Background
During the 2022 Shanghai lockdown, the government's zero Covid policy required residents to stay inside their apartments indefinitely, with mandatory testing every morning. If a single case was found, the entire community would be sent to a temporary quarantine facility known as a Fangcang hospital, often in poor conditions. My friend's studio had no projects, no client work, and everyone around us was feeling the weight of isolation. He invited me to collaborate on something that could lift spirits during this difficult time, encouraging people to step outside and embrace the summer the moment the city reopened.

Design
The frisbee was designed with energy radiating outward from the center, creating a sense of motion and release. Bold, colorful, and youthful elements fill the surface, paired with custom Chinese typography that plays off the illustration. Every detail was meant to feel alive and bursting with the excitement of finally stepping outside again.

Impact
We produced 300 frisbees, all distributed to family and friends, packaged in custom pizza boxes to add a playful unboxing moment. We went further with a promotional video encouraging people to step out the door and reclaim the outdoors. The project reached far beyond what we expected. One of the frisbees was donated under a club's name to a children's sports organization in Tibet, and we watched the project inspire more and more people well beyond the pandemic.
